Planting season is here and Midland Radio's agriculture partners are sharing their tips/tricks for the busy season ahead with the two-way radio company.

Fun fact about planting on the farm: "Planting is the first start of the year and you're relearning how to operate equipment. It can be the toughest hours of the year because in MN, you're always against the clock for planting dates."

KIP SIEGLER

Farm location: Michigan 

Farm type: Corn, soybeans, hay, and wheat

Planting season tip or trick: "Don't plant until the dust flies." 

Fun fact about planting on the farm: "As soon as we're done planting crops, we immediately shift to cutting and chopping hay for the cows."

ANDY DOLE

Farm location: Central Illinois

Farm type: Corn and soybeans

Planting season tip or trick: "If you wait for conditions to be perfect, you may never get anything done!"

Fun fact about planting on the farm: "This Spring will be my family's 176th year of farming in Central Illinois."

Planting season tip or trick: "Pay attention to the small details. You have to get out and dig to verify that you are doing a good job with the planter."

Fun fact about planting on the farm: "A corn plant that comes up 24 hours late will never reach its full potential."

Fun fact about planting on the farm: "Crooked rows contain more plants than straight ones.Anytime somebody plants crooked headlands, this is always the excuse as to why!"

Planting season tip or trick: "Keep your planter dry and it's 100 times easier to clean when you're done."
