However, we will normally collect personal information from you only when we have your consent to do so, when we need the personal information to perform an agreement with you, or where the processing is in our legitimate interests and not overridden by your privacy interests. In some cases, we may also have a legal obligation to collect personal information from you or may otherwise need the personal information to protect your interests or those of another person.
If we ask you to provide personal information to comply with a legal requirement or to perform agreement with you, we will explain why we are asking for the personal information at the relevant time and inform you whether the provision of your personal information is mandatory or not.

4. Information Security
When you place an order or provide personal information, we employ certain technical and organization security measures, such as encryption where appropriate. Encryption scrambles the information in your purchase, including your credit card number, so this information can only be viewed by Midland and our third-party payment processor. However, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we have taken appropriate steps to protect your personal information, Midland cannot ensure or otherwise warrant the security of any information you provide to us or from our Website, and therefore you use our Website at your own risk.

We keep personal information only for as long as required to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected. However, in some circumstances we may retain personal information for longer periods of time, for instance where we are required to do so in accordance with legal (i.e., warranties), tax and accounting requirements. We may also retain your personal information for longer periods of time so that we have an accurate record of your dealings with us in the event of any complaints or challenges. When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize it.
Children's Privacy
The Midland Website is not intended for use by persons under the age of 13. We do not seek to or knowingly collect or solicit information about children under the age of 13. No information should be submitted to or posted on our Website by users under 13 years of age. If we learn that any personal information we collect has been provided by a child under the age of 13, we will promptly delete the information.
