At Midland, our people are at the heart of everything we do and each team member brings something unique to the table.

In this edition of ourĀ Meet the Team series, we’re excited to introduce Caileigh Peterson, our PR and Content Manager.

Whether she’s crafting compelling stories, building media relationships, or strategizing content that connects, Caileigh plays a key role in shaping the voice of the Midland brand.

Get to know more about her background, what drives her creativity, and how she helps us stay connected to our customers and community.

A Passion for Storytelling

Caileigh grew up in central Illinois, always on the go. Whether she was playing sports, spending time with family, or involved in various extracurriculars, she had a passion for meeting new people and learning their stories.Ā

"I was just always curious. I enjoyed learning about new things and asking people questions about what made them who they are."

In high school while taking a speech class, her teacher suggested she take all of these qualities and harness them into broadcast journalism where she could work as a reporter or anchor.Ā

After attending the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri- Columbia, Caileigh worked as a reporter in Columbia, MO and Greensboro, NC for several years covering all types of stories.Ā

"Whether it was an investigation into then Missouri Governor Eric Greitens, President Trump's first term, breaking news, legal matters, complex social issues, the Budweiser Clydesdales, local economic development stories, or presidential elections, I ate it all up. Covering these stories introduced me to people, places, and experiences I wouldn't have had otherwise. I'm incredibly grateful for those years," she said.

However, she decided to leave the news industry and move back to the midwest in the Spring of 2021.Ā

Staying ActiveĀ

As a child, Caileigh played numerous sports, keeping her busy and moving at all times.Ā

It's something she's made a priority to continue in adulthood, no matter how busy she gets.Ā

"I had a high school track coach who told me running is a lifelong sport. It really is. It's something I make time for- both for my physical and mental health."Ā

She's run several half marathons and even one full marathon since she was a freshman in college.Ā

"It's something I am really proud of. I like having a goal outside of my professional life that I can work towards."

Since moving to Kansas City in 2021, she joined a local F45 Training, focused on high intensity interval training.Ā

Making Midland Home

When leaving the news business and moving back to the midwest, she looked to find new ways to be part of sharing others' stories. She wound up at Midland, managing the company's PR and content.Ā

"It was the perfect fit. I get to interact with our customers and share how our radios make a difference to them- whether it's a big or small impact, it's inspiring."

While also managing Midland's PR, she acts as the company's spokesperson, keeping her tied to the passion she had for her previous industry.

"Doing an on camera interview, finding ways to explain the importance of two-way radio technology to everyone in an easy, digestible way is so fun to me. It always feels like such a rush when you're in the middle of an interview."

Over her years at Midland, she's seen the department grow and expand, even going through a rebrand in 2024.Ā

Her favorite aspect of working at Midland is engaging with customers at trade shows and expos.

"Putting a face to the customer is special. These events give us an opportunity to have face-to-face conversations with customers, hear how they're using our products, and learn from them. They get to see that behind our company is real people looking to bring solutions that help them communicate."

Using Midland Products Outside of Work

Over the course of her four years at Midland, Caileigh has helped launch Midland's MXT500, MXT575, ER10 Portable Emergency Weather Alert Radio, the entire JeepĀ® line, GXT67 PRO, GXT3000VP4 GMRS walkie talkies, T71PNK walkie talkies, and more.Ā

"It's been so incredible to see these products come to life. When I first started traveling to events, customers would tell me they were looking forward to products with certain capabilities, so to see them launch and start making an impact is rewarding."

Her favorite Midland product is the GXT67 GMRS 5-Watt Walkie Talkie - GXT67 PRO.

"It's just a really nice, high quality radio. You can feel it in your hand. I love that it is IP67 waterproof and has 5 Watts of power. With that power and durability, users get a chance to truly expand their communication."

Working with two-way and weather radios has changed the way Caileigh views and uses communication tools beyond work.Ā

"I'm kind of at that age where my friends are starting to get married and buy their first homes. I always give them a NOAA Weather Radio. Having worked in news, I saw firsthand how severe weather impacts lives so I want my friends to be as safe as possible. To do that, they need the most accurate information as quickly as they can get it."

She's even gotten some of her friends hooked on walkie talkies.

"My friends love Midland's walkie talkies. I've got friends using them out west when they're skiing, some using them when they're camping, and even to coordinate various events they're part of executing."

When traveling in large groups, Caileigh and her friends use walkie talkies for quick communication.Ā

"About 12 of us went on a beach vacation and were staying at a resort. We didn't have cell service so each room had a walkie talkie. We could easy grab one to let each other know when we wanted to head to dinner, coordinate grabbing drinks from the bar, and the guys just loved goofing around with each other. It really got a lot of my friends hooked on the walkie talkies who hadn't used them before."
