MicroMobile Two Way Radio is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 142.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little radio I've been enjoing this radio, which came as part of a multi-pack with two handhelds. I want to take advantage of the 15W for my city's weekly radio check-in, so I built a carry box to easily use it in the house easily. With the antenna stuck to my skylight frame, I can talk with folks 20 miles away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far very happy. I’ve had the radios for about a week now. They are installed in Jeep Wranglers with the 3db ghost antenna. We live in very hilly central PA, and can communicate approximately 7 miles radio to radio. I have connected with repeaters about 27 miles away! I have ordered a 3db whip antenna from another vendor in hopes of getting better radio to radio communications in the hills and city. Over all we are happy with these. They blow CB radios out of the water, and are perfect for trail communications.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Communicates with Walkie Talkie I own a cattle ranch and was wanting something stationary for my truck that can work with the walkie talkie's my employees have. The MXT115 works perfectly. I haven't had any issues with transmitting or receiving with the walkies. The MicroMobile allows me to communicate with my guys from a pretty good distance away. There is no reason for me to own a CB anymore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome range This is my first GMRS radio. I tested this in urban setup although intent is for overlanding. So my review is partial but so far I love it. I was able to communicate with my X-Talker 71V crisp and clear over an acceptable range of 6-8 miles. Keep in mind this was in a complete urban setup with lot's of building, trees and other obstacles, so line of sight was pretty dense. I think this micro mobile pairs very well with the X-Talkers. It's compact enough to fit in my Outback I'm waiting to use it for the primary purpose (overlanding/camping). I'm pretty confident it will like a charm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MXT115 GMRS Radio Have had the radio's for a few weeks, had trouble programing the units , no repeater rp would come up, could enter tone and other features but would not go to rp no matter what I did , called for tech but folks I got where very nice but couldn't answer the questions. I went to youtube , and found that the repeater function had to be turned on first, once I did that 3 min all programed and fully operational, need to let folks know that this must be done before they do anything else, over all the radio is great, well constructed and audio TX is great and RX is also very good

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product! I am very pleased with Midland Products. As a shop owner and off-roader I was looking for a radio solution for me and my customers that wasn’t going to break the bank. We were trying to get away from CB radios. So we all got together and bought the 115 and some 2 ways. Man they work awesome! Not sure about the 20 miles. We got about 3 miles away and then it got a little staticky after that. Still very pleased!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressive build quality I've had my MTX115 just under a month. I have not yet had time to do any long range tests. Working from my vehichle in the garage, I was able to reach my freind, from a distance of about 5 miles. Not bad, for being inside, plus in the city. Looking forward to getting some use in the woods soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great GMRS radio! I have two of these installed. One in my car, and one set up as a base station at my house with an outdoor antenna. Great range, and I'm able to keep in touch with my daughter when she's out and about in the neighborhood using a little HT. I already have a third radio on the way for a second vehicle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mtx115 Semi happy with the radio. Range is no where as advertised. I’m aware of the small print it states with optimal conditions. Realistically I get about 3 miles range in suburban conditions. Would like to see more true advertising.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good little radio! I bought this radio for use on the trail and initial impressions are very good. One of my favorite features is the small size; it allows you to mount the radio just about anywhere. I also like the ease of setting up repeaters. We have several GMRS repeaters here in Tucson and I've been able to hit them all. I haven't tested the limits but I've regularly been hitting a repeater 15 miles away. I have it paired with Midlands 6db antenna and mag NMO mount which seems to work well. The SWR on it showed 1.04 without any extra tuning or fiddling. The menu interface is hard to follow since all menu options are abbreviated to 2 letters. I find that I don't go into the menu enough to have them memorized so I keep the manual handy. Another con is the mount for the microphone does not come with screws, only adhesive. I found my microphone on the floor of my truck after one day in the Arizona sun. I quickly remedied the problem with a self tapping screw. I also would have preferred a channel knob on the unit itself instead of buttons on the microphone. Aside from those few minor items the radio is great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great radio with really good features! I bought this model as it is rated at 15 watts and the main unit was small. This is an easy install with a very well thought out and secure mounting bracket. I am using this in my Polaris RZR for communication with other riders in our club, All Ohio Riders Association. I went with the optional 6dba antennae, roll bar mount clamp and 3 meter antennae wire. I mounted the radio above my head with the speaker point down at me. It is loud enough for me to hear over the engine with my full face helmet on!! I have great reception with other riders in the hills of West Virginia and Kentucky. Very little static and I like the lock feature so you don’t accidentally change channels when using the corded mic. I like that you can get NOOA weather radio too. I would buy again for another machine great quality!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great audio quality and simple to operate. This is my second product purchased. The radio is simple to operate, affordable, and reliable. The audio output is crystal clear and I'm told the microphone audio from me is equally as great. It comes with a small magnet mount antenna with very small coax making it easy to move from one vehicle to another. The USB charger I thought would be a waste but I use it more than I thought I would. Actually a great idea. Would I recommend this product, certainly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MXT115 15watt I am new to gmrs radios. I got my license and joined a repeater club here in Georgia. I am very impressed I am able to hit a repeater about 80 miles away. Granted the repeater sets in the mountains but still great coverage. With this as a base at the house with the antenna about 15 foot in the air I am able to reach out to a mobile right at 7 miles in a suburban environment. Overall I am very impressed with this little unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressed By Clarity And Range My first outing using the Micromobile system absolutely blew me away. Being able to keep constant communication with those in the group who used walkies was a major plus. The clarity and range of the GMRS is very impressive. I'm used to using CB in groups, and constantly messing with squelch and low range is one of the biggest turn offs. The GMRS systems from Midland have definitely gained priority for comms on our outings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Much welcome upgrade over CB and handheld gmrs I have been using Midland GXT handhelds for at least a decade, probably longer, and they have been great. CB had become obsolete for my needs so I upgraded to this radio. The install was quick and easy. My only complaint there is the use of reverse-polarity mini-tamiya style connectors on the wiring harness. I swapped those out for standard molex. I drove over 200 miles to my destination with the radio on and picked up more chatter than I have on CB in years. While at the 6000+ acre site we had no issues staying in communication over hills, valleys, and in forest. This is all with the stock antenna. I'm so impressed with it as is, I will actually upgrade the antenna to bring the radio to its full potential. The built in speaker could be a bit louder, but it has a jack for an external one which for an old truck with a lot of wind and engine noise seems necessary.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good range and ease of use Its a great radio, good for longer-range GMRS communication. Its incredibly easy to use and install. Sure, it would be nice to have more channels, but for a higher power GMRS radio, we can't complain. Quality and durability are our number one priority and this fits the bill, especially when our rigs get separated by hilltops or dense trees. Its a necessary piece of kit and we couldnt imagine not having it on trail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little radio I finally got time to install this in my Jeep, it took me over 2 hours to install it, only because I'm very picky about how I mount and run wires. Once I was done it worked flawlessly, the only issue I have right now is that there isn't very many people running gmrs radios where I live, I am sure the next time I go wheeling with friends I'll be able to talk to them without issues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Second time works I purchased one for myself for Fathers Day. I set up the radio at the river to test it. Unfortunately it didn’t power up. I contacted customer service when I returned home, and they responded quickly, and it arrived just over a week later. A quick test and the replacement powered up. Great job by customer service. Still trying to determine how to install it in my truck.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple I bought these for tractors and combine at harvest to replace some out dated business band radios. The installation was easy and clean. Paired with the 6db antennas we get very good range, up to 10 miles in rolling hills with no line of sight. they are a little quiet, so if operators are hard of hearing the external speaker would be a good addition, which I didn’t get.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MXT115 MicroMobile I bought this Two-way to go in the combine on our farm. Installation was quick and easy, and I powered the unit with the DC power adapter plugged into the cigarette lighter. We have a couple of the handhelds that we use together with this unit and they work great. Range with those is up to 4 miles in our area. Rural but quite a few tress and houses in between. One thing that we have trouble with is talking into the mic. Sometimes it is hard to understand the person that is talking on the Two-way. I think most of it is inexperience in how to hold the mic up to talk so I am hoping this gets better the more we use it. Another thing I wish was available was a connector with flying leads to wire into the power point that the combine has. I know most people probably cut the 12V adapter off and wire it directly into the power point, but this limits the places you can put it in the cab. I am sure a quick google search and I could find the connector, but if Midland offered this as an option when purchasing, I am sure many people would get it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Way better than i was expecting I ordered the MXT115 for the smaller size this unit is for a smaller room limited ATV. After installing we did a range check and was very surprised that it was able to receive and transmit over the hills we have on our hunting properties. It at only 15 rated watts out preformed a 20 or 25 watt radio a fellow club member has in range and clarity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Product, Easy Install I love working on my Jeep and if I had to complain about his product it would be that the install was too easy and didn't give me any wrench time with my Jeep. All kidding aside, this product is perfect for my needs as trail comms, I know i will be able to get in touch with my fellow wheelers no matter how far apart we may be on the trail.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No speaker in the handset...??!?!?! The only speaker on the unit is on the underside of the main unit. And since you would normally mount this under the dash or on the side of the center console it is very hard to hear. The handset looks like it should have a speaker, and feels like it does, but there are only metal weights, and foam covering the grill that would normally hold a speaker. After taking it apart, all the wiring is there, and it wouldn't cost much at all to have added the speaker, but for some reason they chose not to. Considering the mxt is the same price point, AND has more controls stuffed into the handset, and they somehow figured out how to have a speaker as well. If you are looking at this one, i advice going with the mxt275, unless you don't want to hear it very clearly. Everything works well...but in a Jeep on the trails it can be VERY hard to hear. And if one plugs an external speaker into it, that output is also very quiet and requires a powered speaker that you can adjust the volume on. I thought i'd already written this review, but could not find it on the page? So here it is again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features in a small pack We live in a very hilly area and this fall we had 4 MXT115s on our farm. They work very well and we didn't have any communication trouble. But the best thing is we have over 20 pieces of equipment on our farm, and the fact that we are able to switch the radios over in about 2 minutes is extremely valuable

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good radio Will use this unit in our truck to communicate with others traveling with us on camping trips. The small size is nice but the controls are a bit hard to see. The Monitor/Scan button is also used as a Enter/Confirm key for Menu functions. I wish that button was marked with its Enter/Confirm purpose.

QUESTIONS

Are there any troubles with radios causing GPS issues in farm equipment?  Are they compatible with equipment that already has the power cables and coax in them?

Asked by: Hilltops
We have not received any feedback with the radios causing GPS issues. The only issue we have received feedback on is radio interference when the flashers are on. We have found that simply moving the cables further apart resolves this issue. You can use pre-existing cables. If the cable/coax does not have the proper connectors you can cut the coax and crimp on the correct connectors that would be compatible with the MicroMobiles.

Does this come with a cable to wire directly to the battery or is there a different cable to use?

Asked by: Tyler B
The MXT115 comes with a cable wire that connects to a DC connector. However, you can cut the wire at the connector and strip back the wire to connect it directly to the battery. If you need additional assistance you can contact customer service at [email protected] or 816-241-8500.

I’m trying to get to channel 10 but can’t figure out how

Asked by: Mtuck
The FCC limits the power output to .5 watts on channels 8-14 and since the MXT115 is unable to reduce its power to such low wattage those channels have been removed from the radio.
