Up To 30 Mile Two-Way Radio is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sound Quality and Easy to Use We bought the Midland XLT600 to use when we are camping and adventuring. I liked that they were simple to use and the sound quality was excellent. In particular, the NOAA weather alert radio with weather scan was very helpful. Often we don't have good wifi or cell service when we are camping and we depended on the weather alert system when the weather was dicey. We found multiple uses for the XLT600 walkie talkies. They were so convenient during group bike rides so that faster riders could keep in contact with slower riders. We also used them at the beach to communicate between groups staying in two different beach houses. Finally, they were very helpful when we were backing the RV into the campsite. I highly recommend this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Setup for a Couple Love everything Midland, and have yet to be disappointed. Sound both ways is above and beyond, not crackly, just nice and clear. A lot of range on the volume as well. The earpieces were a plus, handy where you want to communicate but not be rude and distract others from the natural silent beauty. (or just want to discourage eavesdroppers) Batteries are just daisy-chained AAA batteries, which is nice since it allows for plain AAAs as well. Packed with handy little features for those who like to wander, but stay in contact.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for Communicating with Kids As a Ranger for the Dyrt, I receive products from time to time in exchange for my honest review. I received the LXT600VP4 Two-Way Radio from Midland Radio Co. This comes with two handsets, two earsets, and a charger. Let’s start with the good. In the same house or immediate area, the sound is crisp and clear. We tested the range from the house to the neighborhood pool a couple blocks away -- and the sound was very clear! It would be great to use in this way; send the teens to the pool with a radio. However, the listing says it has Xtreme Range* – Up to 30 miles. We tested the range by driving away from the house and calling at certain intervals. We lost contact within about ¼ mile. Much MUCH less than 30 miles. This is VERY typical of Walkie Talkies. If you want to have more range, take a look at Midland’s higher power communication devices. Walkie Talkies are meant for communicating in short distances. I have heard people say these are great for communicating from within a restaurant to customers outside during COVID lockdowns. Use them to talk to your kids out in the backyard when you need them to come in for bedtime. There are lots of awesome uses for these devices!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super clear reception! We recently brought our LXT600VP4 Two Way Radios on a trip to Mt. Shasta to use while hiking... but it turns out we used them the most where we did not have any cell service.  While it was a milder family vacation (no epic adventures), the radios came in most handy as "cell phones" for when anyone left the airbnb to go pick up food, go for a walk, split the group into 2, etc.    Pros:  These are the clearest walkie-talkie radios I have ever used.  There was no foggy-ness or crackling, which made them a joy to use (versus getting frustrated with multiple "can you repeat that?").  While we never got 30 miles apart, they never lost reception or quality.  We also really enjoyed the weather scanner and the ability to choose from a ton of channels when in a popular area. I loved the fact that they have rechargeable batteries!!! It's a pain to always make sure you have batteries around, so it makes grabbing these radios an easier part of packing for your adventure. Cons:   For our purposes (climbing, skiing or hiking), I did not find the ear pieces useful as they aren't hands free and you have to figure out how to run the wires to not limit your mobility. These radios also had a very small hole on the top of the clip to run a string through, but it would be nice to have this secondary connection point to the device itself rather than the piece that could potentially break off. Overall:  If you don't use a string in the hole, I'd always make sure to keep the device in a zipped pocket/water bottle holder to ensure you don't loose one (they are nice and compact to fit!), but otherwise 2 thumbs up on the quality and reception and rechargeable batteries!  We will be bringing these radios on all of our trips and adventures!
