An extension cable can be added to this unit without affecting the sound quality if it has a grounded shield.

The SPK100 has a waterproof rating of IP67, which is the highest level of waterproof rating, meaning it is protected from short periods of immersion in water! This speaker is made for the elements and will withstand pretty much anything with its waterproof design.
Is there volume control on the speaker itself?

The SPK100 does not have volume control. It plugs into your radio with a standard 3.5mm audio jack and then would follow the volume control on the radio. It is designed to give more volume and better sound quality that the radio's built-in speaker.
