What is the difference between the LXT 630 and LXT633? Are they compatible?

All the Midland LXT600 Series are essentially the same radio, but the item number signifies the color of the radio. They are compatible with each other and all of Midland's FRS & GMRS radios.
What is the expected range of this radio?

Walkie talkies operate off line of sight, so range is going to be a factor any time you are using a radio. Factors like obstructions, environment, and even weather can affect range. In optimal conditions such as, mountain top to mountain top extreme ranges might be reached. In normal conditions you can expect 1/2 -1 mile.
We use the Midland LXT600 radios at our elementary school. However, we continue to pick up other walkie-talkie conversations in the area. Could you help us to have privacy on our radios so that we are only receiving our conversations?

We recommend using channels 8-14 and using a CTCSS or DCS code. You can choose those via the Menu button. Press it twice, choose OF and then use the UP arrow to choose whether you want CTCSS or DCS.
