Table of Contents
At Midland, our team members take pride in everything they do, making the brand what it is. Behind every radio shipped, every account balanced, and every customer interaction, there's a person with a story.
In this edition of our Meet the Team series, we're proud to introduce Rebecca Roach, Midland's Accounts Receivable Manager. Rebecca brings not only sharp business skills and a deep appreciation for accuracy, but also a warmth and creativity that shines through.
Roots in Kansas City
Rebecca's story starts in Kansas City, Kansas, where she grew up before moving to Olathe during elementary school. Eventually, her family would end up settling in Independence.
She graduated from Fort Osage High School, where basketball played a pivotal role in her life.
"Basketball was my thing," she recalled. "I played center because I'm tall and I was good on defense. I really enjoyed it."
Although basketball once was her passion, Rebecca's path shifted as she pursued higher education. She began college aiming for a business degree and earned a certificate in business from a community college before completing her associate's degree.
Along the way, she found her first opportunity in accounting when a local company needed someone to fill an open accounts payable position. What started out as a practical step soon became her career.
A Love for Numbers
Rebecca originally envisioned a career in journalism, but she quickly discovered that her strength lie in numbers.
"Numbers are absolute," she explained. "Most people come to you in the company- whether it's receivable or payable. Money tells you about your company: what you can afford to do, what you are doing, if you need to change what you're doing. It tells a lot, so I like being part of that."
Her appreciation for the clarity and decisiveness that numbers bring has guided her career ever since. In her current role at Midland, she takes pride in ensuring that the hard work of every team member is accurately accounted for and carefully managed. "The money everyone on the team is making, I'm putting away," she said.
Finding Her Place at Midland
Rebecca found herself at Midland just at the right time. After taking a short break from work to spend time with her family, she was driving home from vacation on a Friday when she got the call about a temporary opening at Midland.
"It was a Friday, they needed someone Monday. The timing just worked out," she said. "The system in place and the products were just so interesting."
Her role ended up being permanent and now, more than three years later, Rebecca continues to thrive in her position. She values the programs and systems she works with daily, noting they offer plenty of opportunities for growth and learning. She also appreciates the wide variety of customers Midland serves, each bringing something unique to her work.
"Midland has so many different types of customers and I really enjoy working with them all."
Just as importantly, Rebecca appreciates the people she works with. "We just have a great team here. The people I work with, I enjoy them so much. We all have our different, individual jobs, but we can all come together as a company get along really well."
Preparedness at Home
Rebecca's connection to Midland goes beyond her day-to-day job. Like many of her colleagues she relies on Midland's products in her real life.
Her family keeps an emergency radio equipped with crank and solar power in their go-bag, found in the kitchen.
"If there's bad weather or an emergency coming up, it will tell me when I need to take cover," she said.
It's another way she integrates Midland's mission- keeping people safe and connected into her own, daily life.
Creativity and Family Life
Outside of work, Rebecca trades in the numbers for creativity.
As a mother, she spent several years as a stay-at-home mom while homeschooling her sons during their early years. With two boys just 20 months apart, she admittedly didn't spend much time with adults. That's when friends introduced her to scrapbooking. What began as a way to get out to socialize and preserve memories turned into a passion for paper crafting, including card making.
"It feels good to give something that I made to others, it's a piece of me," she said.
Raised to believe that "it's the thought that counts," especially when money was tight, Rebecca embraced creativity as a way to show love and care. Today, she dedicates weekends to paper crafting and still enjoys sewing garments for her great-nieces. For her, crafting is both a creative outlet and a way to connect with others.

Rebecca also finds joy in staying active. She spends time at the gym, rides her bike, and enjoys lap swimming. Travel is also a priority- she and her husband try to take a special trip every other year. One of the highlights was summer 2025, celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary with a trip to Hawaii. "I just love to relax and lay on the beach with nothing weighing on me," she said.
Also part of her family is Luke, a Goldendoodle. He was given to the family as a therapy dog after the loss of her oldest son. Luke became a source of comfort primarily for their other son, making sure the house never felt empty, but his impact has touched the entire family.
"He's really calm, but he also runs the house!"

Attention to Detail
Rebecca's professional philosophy centers on accuracy and attention to detail.
"You've got to have good attention to detail and be accurate in this role," she explained. In fact, she joked about just how important that is to her job. "I was having some eye troubles last year and I told my optometrist that an 8cannot look like a 6!"
Her meticulous approach has earned her place in the company and underscores the importance of her role. Month-end closeouts- often a stressful time in accounting are when she feels most satisfied.
"Work wise, I'm happiest when it's time to close out the month and I'm ready."
