License-free business radios keep country club staff connected

For staff at the Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Texas, continuously providing members with a positive experience is the number one mission. Communication plays an integral role in achieving this.

The Assistant General Manager shares how Midland's license-free business radios are doing just that.

ABOUT RIDGEWOOD COUNTRY CLUB

Located in Waco, Texas, the Ridgewood Country Club has been a staple in the community for decades.

“We are a private club here in Waco, Texas. The club was established in 1947 so we’ve been in operation a little more than 75 years," Assistant General Manager, Tara Turner said.

The club boasts numerous amenities such as a golf course, pickleball, tennis, pool, marina with boat slips, and a fitness center.

Turner said Ridgewood also plays host to private events of all sizes for its members.

“We do a ton of different events. We have private events that are booked through our catering director. That can be anything from a business meeting, baby shower, wedding. It’ll be anywhere from 12 people to 500 or 600 people."

Ridgewood has a couple hundred employees with seasonal workers joining the team during pool season.

RIDGEWOOD'S FOOD AND BEVERAGE DEPARTMENT

One of Ridgewood's largest operations is its food and beverage department.

“We have 3 different dining rooms. We have Lake View which is our formal dining room, we have the Sunset dining room which is casual, and then we have the 19th Hole downstairs which is more geared towards our golfers. The 19th Hole is also 16 and up so it’s definitely more adult oriented. We also have Bertney’s Bar. Those are just our regular, day-to-day offerings," Turner explained.

The Food and Beverage Department also manages food for events such as tennis outings, golf tournaments, and holiday meals, like Easter.

“It’s a pretty large operation. On any given day, we might have a business meeting in one of our small rooms, rehearsal dinner in another, and dining in our other rooms. We’re spread out across the entire building and it’s 2 levels so we’re constantly up and down.”

USING LICENSE-FREE BUSINESS RADIOS

Ridgewood's Food and Beverage Department has been using Midland's license-free business radios for a couple of years.

The department doesn't use the radios everyday, but finds them especially helpful during events.

“We really need them for our bigger events. For example, we used them on Easter. That was a way for us to communicate with the host stand and then kitchen. We’d use them to communicate if table 10 needed to be ready for a second seating in 30 minutes, where guests are at in the meal in case we need to move the next guests.”

She said they served over 500 people on Easter and ensuring the guests have a positive experience is key.

“Our members pay a premium price to have access to come and eat here so their expectations are pretty high. We don’t ever want to look like we are panicking or running around.”

The use of BizTalk® FRS Two-Way Business Radio Bundle LXT600BBX6 has consistently improved efficiency.

Using Midland's license-free business radios have consistently improved efficiency in the department.

“The walkie talkies really just streamline the process of communication so we’re not having to run back and forth. The walkie talkies just help us eliminate a lot of extra steps."

Midland's license-free business radios allow employees to quickly get information for the members.

“It’s just so important that if a member is asking for something that is maybe not on the menu. For that server to go find their manager or a chef to ask if that’s something we can do, they can quickly get ahold of them to let the guest know.”

Turner said the radios have been a great addition for the department.

“They work really well. They’re incredibly useful for events.”
