John Bos

Farm location: Modesto, California

Farm type: Agritourism

Favorite part of harvest season: Seeing all the hard work come to a finished crop.

Most challenging crop to harvest: Flowers. People tend to thrash instead of be delicate.

Favorite piece of equipment for harvest: Wagons full of pumpkins.

If you could have a harvest superpower: To be in 5 different places at the same time/

Successful harvest celebration: Employee dinner a month after. It is so much fun.

Favorite Midland product for harvest: The walkie talkies, that’s the only thing we want at the farm. We are able to communicate with each other.

Nicholas Kientzy

Farm location: Silex, Missouri

Farm type: Cattle, corn, soy, wheat

Favorite part of harvest season: I love the cool temperatures and the fall leaves. The smell of diesel and the fact that all the hard work of the last few months is finally paying off.

Most challenging crop to harvest: For us, probably corn. Higher yields and you have to follow the rows.

Favorite piece of equipment for harvest: Obviously, the combine, I mean, it’s the 1 of 2 times a year we use it.

If you could have a harvest superpower: Double the yield

Successful harvest celebration: That's a hard question. I don’t think we ever consider it a fully successful harvest because we always find room for improvement for the next year.

Favorite Midland product for harvest: Definitely our MicroMobiles because they keep us connected throughout harvest.

Garrett Correa

Farm location: Echo, Oregon

Farm type: Custom harvest

Favorite part of harvest season: My favorite part of harvest season is when all the machines are running smoothly, but in all seriousness I enjoy all aspects of it. From the rat race to get from one field to the next, to the constant struggle of always trying to do the best job you can for the farmers, it’s all fun.

Most challenging crop to harvest: The most challenging crop for us is the grass seed. It’s tough because there are so many variables that can result in a poor job and we have to cut it at night. All the way through the machine, everything needs to be set almost perfectly to do the job right. It’s a constant battle between us and the crop. I love it.

Favorite piece of equipment for harvest: Our favorite piece of equipment right now is the MacDon M1240! We like how it can run multiple different style heads to complete whatever task we are up against, and do a great job!

If you could have a harvest superpower: Being able to fly would be nice to get to the machines faster and it would make parts running a breeze!

Successful harvest celebration: I like to celebrate a successful harvest with a good dinner and a lot of sleep!

Favorite Midland product for harvest: We really enjoy all our Midland products, but our favorite would be the MXT115AGVP3 MicroMobile® Farm Tractor Bundle. It works perfectly in our machines with long-range capability. When we are traveling to new locations on the custom harvest road, they always work. We like how the smaller handhelds can still talk to the MXT115. Install was super easy, I don’t see how we could get by without them now!

Brian Brown

Farm location: Chillicothe, Ohio

Farm type: Grain

Favorite part of harvest season: Harvest season is kind of like a report card. You get to see how you did during the growing season.

Most challenging crop to harvest: Each crop has unique challenges, but corn typically requires the most man power.

Favorite piece of equipment for harvest: Combine

If you could have a harvest superpower: Not have to wait on trucks or grain carts.

Successful harvest celebration: Every season my brother and I take a shot of whiskey that a salesman left in our office a few years ago. It’s absolutely terrible whiskey, but I look forward to it every year.

Favorite Midland product for harvest:  I love the versatility of the MXT575. Being able to have both speakers turned on is a huge plus for me and also having all the controls on the mic is nice.

Rece Johnson

Farm location: Jackson, Minnesota

Farm type: Row crop, hog

Favorite part of harvest season: My favorite part of harvest season is watching the crop that you grew all year get harvested.

Most challenging crop to harvest: Down corn

Favorite piece of equipment for harvest: The combine

If you could have a harvest superpower: Perfect weather

Successful harvest celebration: Washing everything up and packing it all in the shed for winter

Favorite Midland product for harvest: The MXT500 and walkie talkies for easy communication to make the day easier

@the_gen_z_farmer

Todd Westerfeld

Farm location: Moody, Texas

Farm type: Row crop

Favorite part of harvest season: Oddly enough, it's the lead up to the first day. Maintenance, hand shelling, and coming up with a plan for that first day of harvest.

Most challenging crop to harvest: Cotton by far. It is a crop that can cause many issues, anywhere from how the actual crop harvests, weather issues, and ultimately, and most importantly, the constant threat of fires.

Favorite piece of equipment for harvest: My favorite piece of equipment is by far the stripper baler in a good cotton crop. Nothing beats fields of white.

If you could have a harvest superpower: Future vision. Knowing when things will break before they do so you aren't ever waiting for a part, and knowing what areas to avoid, or to be ever presently engaged with during harvest for various reasons, from rocks to weeds to field conditions.

Successful harvest celebration: We always get together after the end of harvest seasons to cook out, sit back, and relax knowing another year is done.  End of harvest parties are the best ones.

Favorite Midland product for harvest: MXT500 when you take into a count not only the range, but the volume and clarity that comes along with it.

Kayla Wieczorek

Farm location: Perry, Missouri

Farm type: Hay and cattle

Favorite part of harvest season: Ha! I’d say when it’s just about done! When you spend all summer baling hay, the end goal is always getting the squares to the barn!

Most challenging crop to harvest: Alfalfa

Favorite piece of equipment for harvest: My Massey Ferguson 6S & 1842S Small Square Baler

If you could have a harvest superpower: “Cloning!” As a wife, mom, and a female farmer, having the ability to be in 2-3 places at the same time would be really handy.

Successful harvest celebration: Enjoying our kids fall birthdays with friendsWe do a bonfire and hayride.

Favorite Midland product for harvest: The Midland MicroMobiles- they’re in all our tractors making communication unlimited between me and my husband. No more missed “hand signals."
