What is the expected battery life for these walkie talkies?

Battery life will be based on how often the radio is used and what power level is being used. The typical standard for usage on a radio like this is 90-5-5 (90% Standby, 5% Transmitting, & 5% Receiving). Battery life for the T7t is around 5 hours at 90-5-5 when being used on Hi power. We do recommend replacing your rechargeable battery packs every 9-12 months. Alternatively, you can also use 3 AA alkaline batteries in this radio.
I bought a pair of Midland X talkers from a local retailer to try. I would like to buy another set so we have 4 for the family. If I buy one more set, will all 4 work together?

Yes, all Midland FRS and GMRS radios will be compatible. Ensure everyone is using the same channel.
Can these radios have a "private" channel so there isn't interference from other radios talking on the same channel or is it pick a channel and hope no one else is on it?

Your radio has 121 Privacy Codes available. The selected Privacy Code may be different for each channel. To select a Privacy Code for the current channel press the MENU button twice. In the manual page 9 will walk you through it. Please note however, that while privacy codes will allow you to communicate without interference from others, they won't prevent others from hearing your conversations.
