Poor duribility and audio quality through earpiece
We bought 6 of these 2 years ago for our church security team. From the start, the audio quality was poor through any earpiece on all radios. We returned and replaced the earpieces with several different styles and the result was the same. Returning the radios was not an option, so we have put up with it for 2 years. Now the onboard mics do not work on 3 of the 6 radios. These are all used by adults and are not abused, yet they have not stood up to the test of time. It is true that they are half the price of most other 2way radios, but maybe this is why. I am very disappointed. We are a small church and this is a lot of money down the drain.

Good quality at a reasonable price.
I have always been a big fan of Motorola. And anyone who knows Motorola, knows there price. Midland does the job for less than a third of the cost, and the power and channel number is exactly the same.... OK, perhaps Midland is not as tough and forgiving as a Motorola HT! But it comes pretty close... And being able to program them to my existing system is a major plus! (Try doing that with Motorola?). I’ve been using Midland in the workplace now for a few years. And I am more than happy with there performance and durability.

Great Radio!
I purchased 2 radios in April and I'm impressed with how well they works, I used these radios 30 feet below ground and have gotten good all around reception.
These radios are durable, reliable and are a great value!
Completely Satisfied!
Thank you Midland!
Best,
Jose' G.

Great for Restuarants
I own a dozen franchised restaurants and use these radios in all of them. I have 50 radios in total and have only had to replace 2. I sent them in to Midland as they were still under warranty and received the new ones in two days! Great product and great customer service.

Expect 50% of the advertised range
The range of these radios is about 50% of the advertised range when used in modern concrete & steel structures. To reach through twenty stories of concrete and steel, one would have to be in a perfect position; a position of less concrete and steel such as a direct line of sight...

Amazing business radios
I just purchased two of these for our crane inspection company. They are extremely loud, clear, and light weight!! They seem very durable and should hold up to lots of abuse. I plan on purchasing 4 more of these and the multi-charger!

Small, lightweight, great sound, and great value.
I have 16 of these. Good sound quality. Really can’t beat the simplicity and price for a commercial radio. In use over a month and no durability issues and I know several have been dropped onto concrete and still work with no visible damage. Only negative is the battery tends to fly off when dropped. If being crazy picky, the attachment of the belt clip has really small screws which seams like it could be a weak point but none have broken yet so it may just be my perception. I like that it is compact so easy to have on a belt and still sit down without trauma. I’ve used other brands in the past and they were heavy and bulky. Battery has easily lasted all day. The PTT button seams small compared to other radios and sometimes takes a second stab at to find when not looking but I like it better because it is harder to accidently trigger it when sitting or leaning up against something. I have used several other brands in the past as a compare and I have some residential Midland products too. I would definately recommend Midland and I will keep buying Midland.

QUESTIONS
Are these radios waterproof / resistant? and how much extra on top of the cost of the radio is the license?
The BR200 is not water proof or resistant. The MB400 is if that is a feature that you need. The business radio license typically runs around $150 for 10 years.

can this radio be reprogrammed for other uhf frequencies?
This radio can only be programmed for Business Band UHF frequencies.

Is this Radio required to have FCC licensing? even know it operates under 2 watts?
Hey Jordan, this radio runs in the business band and absolutely requires licensing. The radios that are 2W and under are FRS radios and are license free on the shared FRS/GMRS frequencies to which this radio cannot be programmed. With business band you receive exclusive channel(s) depending on your needs, making this type of radio more secure and great for privacy.

How well do these work in a cruise ?
We would not suggest this radio for consumer use, as it is for buisness specific (and paid for) frequencies. We would suggest the T71VP3 for a cruise, as it is a license-free radio!

Do I need to purchase headset or it is optional ?
The headset is optional and based on your communication needs!

I like the idea of dedicated business channels but also want to use them when hiking with family and don't mind paying the cost to license (BR400). Is there any reason why I couldn't use them for BUS & PERS to achieve a more powerful signal and range?
