What is a GMRS Base Station?
A GMRS base station is a fixed or portable radio setup that provides extended communication range from a stationary location - like a home, farm, or job site. Unlike handheld walkie-talkies, base stations use higher power output and external antennas to reach vehicle-mounted and handheld radios miles away. Midland's MXPW series "ammo can" radios are purpose-built portable base stations that run on battery power for off-grid use.
