June 5, 2021 marks World Environment Day.

The United Nations will kickoff its Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. The goal is to prevent, halt, and reverse the degradation of ecosystems worldwide.

ECO-FRIENDLY BUSINESS

Nathan Stuart is the co-owner of Legends Overlanding. The company is an all-inclusive, eco-conscious, Overland Expedition. Guests will experience the landscape with high-end camping.

“We’re doing overland adventure tours with an eco-friendly and conscious mindset. We’re going to be very aware of the materials we are using, fuel that we are consuming,” Stuart said.

In order to be as eco-conscious as possible, Legends Overlanding will be sourcing local food, using compostable toilets, avoiding use of plastics, and making sure nothing is left behind at the campsite.

“We’re being responsible for our impact.”

The company will also work to offset its emissions by partnering with organizations to plant trees.

Stuart said Legends Overlanding will pick up its customers in San Diego and will take them along in their travels to some of the most remote locations in North America. Specifically Baja, Mexico. Adding in an international aspect meant focusing on the environment was even more crucial.

“We’re aware we are going to be in someone else’s country and we have a responsibility to be good guests.”

He and his business partner knew they wanted their business to make the environment its number one priority.

“We just love the environment. There’s a move towards eco-tourism. We feel like that’s the future.”

USING RADIOS TO COMMUNICATE

Legends Overlanding will use Midland Radio products for its tours.

“We’re crossing an international border so communication is very important and we want to give our clients a sense of security. We’re also going to be in very remote areas so being able to communicate with every vehicle and trust our customers have the right radios in their vehicles is important.”

Stuart said they chose Midland because the radios are the easiest to use.

“Since we’re going to be working with people who might not be familiar with radios, we wanted something that is super user-friendly.”

BRINGING AWARENESS TO THE ENVIRONMENT

In the future, he hopes more people start to take action to protect our planet and feels outreach is key to achieving that.

“We don’t have 2.0 on the planet. We just have this one If we don’t start living different on this planet, we’re not going to have one to enjoy.”

LEGENDS OVERLANDING'S FAVORITE PRODUCT:

Stuart said his favorite Midland product is the MXT115 MicroMobile Two-Way Radio.
