Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Walkie Talkie I bought these radio's a few years ago and have enjoyed them ever since. Very easy to use menu functions and great range. I am thinking about doing a review of these walkie talkies on my youtube channel. Thanks

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not even close to 28 miles range I bought these for my son & husband to use on the job & hunting. They are very clear until you get to 5 blocks away then you starting getting static. At 6 blocks you get nothing. 28 mile range? No. Not even half a mile. These were tried in 'city', however it is a very small country town.

Can the battery in these radios be charged with the charger that comes with ypur LXT630VP3 GMRS radios?  I want to increase my number of radios but already have the charger.

Asked by: Paul B
Yes, it is the same battery.

What type of port is on the side for push to talk wires?, because I want to connect this to a push to talk button and headset and I need to know what type of pin to get on the push to talk

Asked by: Frostbite923
Hello, the Microphone port is 2.5mm audio jack and headphone port is 3.5mm audio jack. Jacks are spaced 10mm on center. We can only guarantee that Midland accessories will work with our radios.

Will these work with the older t51a model?

Asked by: Cowboy681
Yes, any FRS or GMRS radio will communicate with any other as long as they are all set to the same channel.

Looking at getting a USB wall charger. The USB outputs are 2.1 and 1 amp(s). Could I damage the batteries as they are only rated to 700mAh?

Asked by: Anonymous
You will not damage the battery, power is limited internally!

Is there a certain way the batteries have to go in the Unit. And what is the batteries life in the city. And if you don't have licenses you use them, what is a good frequency to use.

Asked by: Tree
Yes, the batteries have a sticker on the wrap (do not remove battery wrap/casing) that has an arrow with "up" inside it, designated that that end goes up as well as a note that says "insert with this side out". That should help you insert the batteries correctly. As for the battery life in the city - if you are inside a vehicle or a building and do not have a direct line of sight to the other radio user, your radios are going to have to work harder to get the transmission sent. This will cause your battery to drain much faster than in an open environment where you can see the other radio user. These radios do not transmit over 2W of power so they are FRS radios that do not require licensing. You may use all channels 1-22 as you like.

Are they compatible with CB radios?

Asked by: Ruffian81
Negative, these radios use the FRS and GMRS bands not the CB band. You would need something like our SKU 75-822 to use with other CB radios.

How do I change channels?

Asked by: Dr.George
Press "Menu" - the number on the screen will start blinking. Then press the up or down arrows until you come to the channel you would like to use. Press Menu again until the number stops flashing (hit menu 5 times) and you are set.
