MicroMobile Two Way Radio is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 245.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for cars w/ little dash space My Subaru Forester lacks a good mounting option on the dashboard to instal a MXT105 or 115... With this MXT275 I can keep the whole base and power cord neatly hidden in my armrest console, and when not in use, I can easily keep the microphone in there too. The controls are easy to use and very intuitive. I’ve never been able to convince my wife to get a HAM license, but this radio is so easy to use, she wants one now for emergencies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this radio Live on a small farm/ranch with lots of animals and it is more convenient to have radios to communicate with than with using text with the phone and the response is much quicker. The Midland Radio MX275 with all the controls in the handset is the best. I have installed in my UTV and can travel all over the farm and get great and crystal clear reception with the two Midland handhelds 1050's that I also purchased. I have a lot of animals to tend to and sometimes need a quick response and this radio meets need nicely. I plan to purchase several more to add to my other farm equipment and trucks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Off Roading Handset feels super solid, a little heavy, but overall a solid handset. I used this radio on a trail run in the Colorado mountains, it performed very well. The range was really good when talking to other Midland handhelds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Power in a Small Package ! A couple of us bought these to replace our Cobra 75 CBs. CBs on the trail or overlanding just don't make the grade, the Midland MicroMobile is a definite improvement over any CB. We mounted the "guts" of the radio behind our glove compartment doors so the only thing you see is the all in one microphone. We also opted for external speakers to hear better with the top and/or windows down. Easy range of several miles on the trail compared to less than a mile with the Cobra 75 CBs. A fantastic improvement and absolute clear reception of everyone else in the group. Once the rest of the off road community sees that CB is a "Model T" and GMRS MicroMobiles are Ferrari's, everyone will have one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Radio! This radio really does well. I am able to get 5 Miles in the city! Can’t believe I ran a CB for so long. Midland has been great to work with. Excellent customer service!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a great upgrade to my Cobar 75WXST CB Radio I've been watching and waiting for this particular radio and setup to come out. I liked the setup of my old Cobra CB with all the controls on the mic. This fits the bill 100% and the clarity, distance and reliability of GMRS/FRS makes this such a no-brainer. I'm getting all my offroad/camping buddies to get this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Radio Setup For Me I bought the MXT400 initially, which was a fantastic radio as well, but the one thing that was difficult for me was finding real estate to properly mount it. I ended up installing it under my driver seat which made reaching the mic and adjusting volume/channels, etc. difficult. The MXT275 works just as well for me as the MXT400 did for my use cases (offroad communications) but allowed me to mount it in a perfectly accessible location along the passenger side footwell. It's so compact and light! I love that the controls are integrated into the mic, which allows me to control it easily from the drivers seat. The 12v adapter makes for ridiculously easy setup as well and means the whole unit can be moved to another vehicle rather quickly. Overall, I have been extremely pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice little radio! I bought this radio for install in a particular vehicle whereas being able to look at display for channel changes/volume adjustments while in motion would have been a concern. Great radio, receives/transmits well with the commercial grade antenna I am using. Audio output using either speaker is great and with both speakers on is even better!! and when I attached an external speaker to it I forgot to turn the radio down and when radio traffic came over I almost jumped out of my seat!!! I would definitely recommend this radio to anyone looking for this style of radio. Midland you did good with this radio. BTW I also have an MXT115 that I love also. Would love to try an MXT400!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for My Tacoma I love my Taco but is doesn't have very much dash space. Ever since I saw that Midland was coming out with the MXT275 last year I had been holding out until it was available. I'm glad I did because it is AWESOME! I hid the head unit by mounting it under the lid of my middle console. The mic fits perfectly in my hand and just feels RIGHT! I upgraded to the MXTA11 6db antenna and am getting 30+ miles with it! Rock on!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy I purchased the mxt275 micromobile along with Mxt x talkers. I have a Jeep Wrangler so space is limited. I didn’t want to drill into the dash or hardtop so mounting the micromobile on the dash is ideal. It’s on there solid and hooked up to the 12v cigarette lighter. I further purchased the flexible antenna from midland in improve reception and transmission. I was interested in the Jeep Wrangler mount offered by midland. However, the antenna is on back order. Some simple research resulted in a mount I found on eBay. This worked great as set up was easy and the cable can be concealed by and large.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made piece of equipment. I installed this unit about 3 weeks ago. Easily mounted it under the passenger seat and mounted the mike/control unit on the dash. Very impressed with the quality and ease of use. Surprisingly well made for money. Highly recommend!! Haven’t seen anything similar really for any amount of money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mobile Radio Best feature: All settings on headset, now I can hide the radio box. There is not FRS channels (8-14), understandable new FCC regulations. Wish to have channels and radio frequencies (RF) on display, have to look manual/documentation when setting specific RF on repeater channels. Tested it handheld to mobile in ABQ flat terrain, works great, overall the radio is loud and has clear reception.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Easy to Install & Works As Advertized This unit was installed in my Polaris Ranger. The basic installation was very easy. I opted to fabricate a bracket and ground plane for the antenna, so that took me a little longer than usual, but I wanted the optimal range for the radio. We tried it at a location had been really marginal for the handitalkies, but reception in both directions was loud and clear. I'm looking forward to our elk hunt in the late fall, when this unit will really be put to the test.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Peace of mind...keeps me connected! I’ve wanted the MXT275 for a while and for my birthday the wife surprised me with it! I installed it into my Jeep for a hard wired, high powered radio while out camping and off roading. I also have some Midland handhelds that are great but I like knowing I’ve got more power and options on the big radio. I love it so much I bought a second one for my tiny camper trailer. Now, while I’m roaming around in the Jeep away from the camp site, we can still get ahold of each other. I was a comms guy in the Army. I guess some things never change.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect radio for my needs Great radio, works great. Much better range than a handheld. I bought this because Jeep Jamboree is moving to the FRS/GMRS format. I wanted something that could be mounted under my dash out of sight and this was the perfect radio. My neighbor fabricated a bracket and it fit perfectly behind the glove box. The antenna is small and easily concealed behind the tire carrier. Not the best placement for range, but good enough for what I need. Very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MXT 275 Two Way Radio The radio worked perfect for my ATV. I used a 6 db antenna with a "L" bracket. The radio is very easy to take off of my ATV. I can plug in my midland helmet speaker with mic or any other midland speaker phone I have. And of course I can use it like a handheld microphone stand alone as well. This unit talks much better than my handheld I had been using. A friend saw how convenient it is to use and he ordered one for his UTV. Thanks Midland! I will send photos when I go out next time into the Colorado backcountry where I live

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product review I purchased a solid mount radio and 2 handhelds mostly off roading. I've used them twice and are extremely satisfied. Not only are they great on the trails they keep our group in contact with each other on the highway home also. The reception was crystal clear and the range was great, we were separated by a couple miles at one point. Im very satisfied and have recommended your products to everyone who will listen. Im considering adding a couple more radios to my other vehicles. Thank you Midland for producing a quality product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The MXT275 Radio is a great unit. I bought and installed the MXT275 in my jeep a couple of weeks ago. Its built well and sounds good and clear. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because even though all the controls are on the hand piece, you can't install the base unit too far away. The hand piece cable is not very long. I wanted to do the install where the base unit could not be seen. I was able to install the base unit in the center console and the hand piece just reaches the dash board. It would not have reached if one was to decide to mount it under the seat. I'm pleased as to how it was small enough to fit in the center console considering a jeep doesn't have too many places to hide electronics. Something to keep in mind..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MXT275 Install is super easy and flexible. I love the controls on the mic. Unit feels robust and solid. I've been having a great time listening to the chatter on the repeater channels and used it to stay in touch with another vehicle using a HT Motorola GMRS radio in the mountains outside of cell service. Bonus points for the small details like back light color options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great size and features! This unit has a great form factor. Easy to find a place to install temporarily or permanently in almost any vehicle. The microphone with controls is great and more ergonomically fits my hand. I use to communicate with others on the trail, base camp and as emergency communication with family using handhelds. Excellent range as well with either provided antenna or extended range antenna. License is super easy to obtain online with ZERO testing required. This is the next “best” thing if you have no desire to get a HAM license. Highly recommended and purchasing additional devices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic overall radio; great form factor Originally had a MXT115 in my LR3, anxiously awaiting the arrival of the 275. With the small form factor and easy connections, install was a breeze and the radio is working flawlessly. Midland has really done will with the micromobile series and the handset functionality of this unit makes it my favorite in the family.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feature filled radio Purchased this radio for the features. My dash is pretty full and wasn't sure about mounting and still keeping a clean install. With this model I was able to put the small box either in the console or place it in the back seat, either way the microphone is all that is up front with me. Very simple to install, basically just plug and play. The channels are not overloaded with everyone trying to talk, reception is crisp and voices are easily understood. I did opt for the higher gain antenna and the magnetic mount, both are working as advertised. Magnetic mount easily withstands freeway speeds and small low hanging branches, I can switch this from one vehicle to the other quickly and easily. Would highly recommend this setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Install I ordered the MXT 275 and Lip Mount Antenna Mount and 6 db antenna. I enjoy Overland Camping and 4 Wheeling, so I wanted a little bit more power through the Antenna. My wheeling partner already bought this exact same Radio and I copied him to be able to use them on future trips. We both got our GMRS Licenses and we are set to go this spring and summer. The ease of install was great and the sound quality is much better than my current CB radio. I am anxious to get more of my friends into the GMRS radios to make it easier during trail rides and overlanding trips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice for work and play This radio combines the familiarity and ease of operation of a handheld radio with the higher power output and better antenna performance of a dedicated vehicle installed mobile radio. The microphone is of a solid and strong polymer construction which is the right size for the average hand. The controls are intuitive. The menu is on par with handhelds. Basic installation is easy for the novice user and in theory this radio could be quickly transferred between vehicles. The transceiver housing is made out of die-cast aluminum with a rugged paint coating and the housing mounting bracket is very sturdy while allowing for quick removal of the transceiver. The USB port is active whether or not the radio is turned on so beware that if you wire this up directly from the main battery (rather than a key switched source like most 12V outlets in modern vehicles), there will be a small drain. Personally, I have this wired to my aux battery and use the USB port to charge my phone while the vehicle is off. The microphone hanger clip uses foam tape to attach it to a flat surface. Finding a flat surface can be challenging for many many vehicles but it doesn't get easier than sticking the clip to your dashboard. Personally, I installed a generic screw mounted mic clip for added durability and since I had no flat surfaces where I wanted it to be mounted. Overall this is a great product concept that was executed very well and is a welcomed supplement to my HAM and CB radios already installed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact and Packed with Features I've been running this radio for about 2 months now and really love the small form factor and features. When I'm not using it, I disconnect and store the handset out of the way. The reception/transmission is great with the 15w output. I've currently got it paired with the 3db ghost antenna and it's all working together nicely. The weather band function is awesome while out camping remotely. And if color matching your interior lighting colors is your're in luck, you can change the display color to match! Overall this radio installs quickly and easily, has an additional USB port and a fun unknown for most is: you can turn the speaker on the handset and the base unit on at the same time. Gets you a little extra volume!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They thought of everything! As soon as you open the box, you're amazed by how much good stuff Midland packed into it - and how really small this unit is. The second thing that strikes you is the incredible quality of every component included. This is why I tend to stick with the tried and true brands over the upstarts. You get the feeling that this unit contains decades of experience and refinement from the very minute you open the box, through the painless set up and the first time you use it. The term "state-of-the-art is so over used but this truly is it. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressed - easy to use Love the product. New to GMRS radios and did my homework. Didn't want foreign-made product so was glad I found MidlandUSA. Looked at a lot of reviews and videos before purchasing this radio. Will probably purchase the MXT400 for another vehicle/permanent install. I like the portability of this radio to other vehicles using the car's DC supply. Still learning how to properly use it, but very happy with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Radio I purchased this radio a little over a month ago for my truck, to be used on hunting trips. The handset has great weight, responsive button function, great volume and clarity. I tested with a Midland Base Station, on a lo powered channel had good comms out to about 5 miles on flat open terrain. I purchased the GMRS FCC license to operate. I am excited to get more use out this radio in the coming weeks!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy and compact I put this in my Dodge Journey. It is so light weight and was easy to mount on the side of the center console. I really do not get much traffic talking on it. If your looking for people to talk to your not going to get it on here unfortunately. It receives business traffic talking but they do not respond. I love the weather channel on it if I want up to date when out running around. So if your looking for a radio for off roaming and you have a crew that is with you. Then this is the way to go. As far as distance I know a couple of the traffic is a good 5 to 20 miles away. The reception is kind of static. So you may want to upgrade the antenna. If a different mount option, like door jam, window, becomes available then I am going to try it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Needed comm. gear over phones/CB radio Bought this model over the other Midland GMRS radios, due to the controls all being in the microphone. This will make it much easier to use while on the road, and not have to take my eyes away, by looking down, where I have it mounted. Needed a GMRS unit for group and hwy travel, with some distance TX ability due to terrain over just CB use. I paired this with the optional 6dB antenna, for added distance, and will keep the included short one for a spare. Mostly desert/flat terrain, with some trees being encountered in the mountains/hills.

I am only getting about 50-100' more range from the MXT275 to a Motorola T600 than I was getting from handheld to handheld. Stock antenna. Will the 3db antenna make much difference? I'm kind of disappointed in the range performance.

Asked by: JoeS
If you are only getting 50-100 more feet from the 15 watt radio compared to a 1 watt handheld than please call customer service at 816-241-8500 M-F 8am-4:30pm CST and a customer service representative will help troubleshoot the issue for you, but Yes, the 3db antenna will improve your range up to 2x and the 6db antenna will increase your range up to 4x.

Why are the Micromobile radios only narrow band instead of wideband as allowed by the FCC for GMRS?

Asked by: Brian P
While it is true that GMRS radios are allowed up to 20 kHz occupied bandwidth and 5 kHz maximum deviation (wide band), the channels are also shared with FRS radios which are limited to 12.5 kHz occupied bandwidth and 2.5 kHz maximum deviation (narrow band). Plus the interstitial channels have been inserted between the main channels such that the channel spacing is 12.5 kHz. So while the FCC allows GMRS radios to occupy more bandwidth than the channel spacing would suggest is appropriate, as a manufacturer of both FRS and GMRS radios, a maximum 12.5 kHz maximum occupied bandwidth is more appropriate for channel sharing between GMRS and FRS radios.

Can I use my existing CB antenna and cable. And will this radio communicate with CB’s

Asked by: Jeeptjdude
You can use your existing cable but you will need a GMRS antenna as your CB antenna is tuned to citizen band frequency so it will not work properly with the MicroMobile. No, the MXT275 will not communicate with CB radios because they run on different frequencies. A radio that could run on CB and GMRS frequencies would be illegal through the FCC.
