Compact Emergency Crank Wx Radio is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hard to plug in the built-in battery. I own an older model weather radio from pre digital TV which allowed me to listen to the VHS TV stations at the time. I bought this for the solar charging option and phone charging option. I never used the phone charging option on my original model. I had trouble plugging in the rechargeable battery because my fingers were too large to do it easily. I considered finding a neighbor kid with smaller hands to complete that option but finally got it in.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The weather radio is very good and picks up signals from transmiters quite far away. The fm radio is okay, and the am radio stinks.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I have trusted Midland products for years, but this ER210 let me down. The USB port didn't stand up to normal daily charging.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A real asset here in central Texas We have had the ER-210 for a month now and very pleased with this WX radio. The solar cell charger feature is great. We leave the radio in a window to keep it fully charged. Only neg. comment is the same as many need better and more prominent instructions on connecting the battery before trying to charge the radio.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from bad battery I bought this in May of 18 worked fine. Went to use it in November battery would not charge. Not much good if you need to get a new rechargeable battery after 6 months in the closet

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value! I bought this handcrank/battery/solar powered emergency radio and am very happy with it! One day previous to my purchase, I woke up to no power in the house and was afraid of the cause: an attack by North Korea?! Now I can find out thru my ER from Midland!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Size It is easy to understand how to set it up. I took it to the cellar where we would go in case of inclement weather and the reception was excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Functional, Reliable, and Great Peace of Mind This radio was perfect for my family's kayaking trip to Little Tybee Island, an undeveloped barrier island off the Georgia coast. Being at the beach, we were able to not only listen to the weather forecast for temperature/wind speed/precipitation, but also tide tables and water current information. While we had cell signal on this island, I didn't know if we would in advance and wanted to make sure we had a way of monitoring possible storm activity, and could verify the tides since timing your trips in/out of the island are heavily dependent on the tides. Knowing the radio would also sound an alarm in the instance of national weather service alerts also gave us peace of mind, and kept us from checking our phones which was great for a family trip. The charging options are great for when you are in the backcountry/undeveloped areas. I have now used this in bright sunny weather, and in rain and heavy clouds, and knowing that I can maintain enough of a charge to monitor both time and the weather is great. I recommend this product, particularly for families who frequently go into areas without cell service, or when you want to stay disconnected from your phones.

Can the radio be connected to the charging port all of the time

Asked by: Thomas W
Yes it can, but we would actually suggest that you place this radio in a sunny window and let the solar panel keep the slow trickle charge going.

The display light does not shut off model ER210. is this normal?

Asked by: jack
Hello Jack, the ER210 should always show the time and the battery but the display light should shut off after about a 10 second period of non-use. If you could send us an email at we will let you know how to go about sending this model in so we can check it out and get you a working unit! Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
